Welcome!
I am looking forward to a great year; I am so excited to hear you will be in my class this fall. We will spend the day playing and you won’t even know how much you are learning!
Our day will include an opening circle where we will check to see how many of our friends are with us and then station time when we do our work. This will include playdough, matching games, art projects and so much more. Then we’ll read a story, pray and have snack. The snacks will be delicious because you will take turns bringing in your favorite healthy snack to share with the class. I’ll send a bag home with you when it’s your turn to help remind your parents! After snack, we pack our folders (you’ll need to buy one of these) and backpacks (bring a full size bag, you’ll have a lot to put in it every day). We’ll go outside just about every day, even through the winter. Before we go home, we’ll gather at circle and share the mystery box (every day someone will bring an item in the mystery box with 3 clues to help us guess what it is) and the estimation jar (every day someone will bring a jar with up to 15 items in it and we’ll count and sort them).
Don’t worry if you don’t know how to write your name yet- we’ll learn that after Christmas. First, we’ll work on building all those little muscles in your hands. If you are writing, be sure to pull all your letters down from the
top and hold your pencil with your thumb tip. We will write everything top to bottom.
Visit me on August 29 from 5-7pm. You can bring your backpack, folder, 1 glue bottle and 2 gluesticks that night. Be sure to bring a smile, I will take a picture of you to use on your name card. I will also ask you to choose one
item if you can from a list of additional supplies to contribute to the classroom.
We start school the week after everybody else so your first day will be either Tuesday, September 10 or Wednesday, September 11. I am including a list of each section; these are assigned based on transportation. For a fee, the District bus will take you home if you live outside the city of Pierz. The fee helps put a para on the bus that will read you books and help you stay safe. Please call Tracy Voigt to set this up, 468-6458 ext 1215.
